3 things I did that changed my skin

I admittedly have not always taken the best care of my skin. I wore way too much makeup, would go to bed without washing my face and would wake up only to put more makeup on. Ahhh, just thinking about that makes me cringe now. Well, I’m happy to report that I don’t do that anymore haha oh to be in your 30’s 😆 I’m not going to lie and say I woke up one day and miraculously started taking care of my skin, it was definitely a slow progression but these are the three things that I added that changed my skin.

Motivation Monday

November 2, 2020

How was your week last week? I was able to move my body 5 days last week which I consider an accomplishment between work, Halloween and Daylight Savings. I find that exercising in the mornings sets the tone for the day. It helps decrease my stress and anxiety and overall makes me feel better. What’s your favorite type of exercise? Truthfully, mine is running but I struggle to find time to get out on the roads.

What i recommend to all of my patients

When it comes to Dental Hygiene and our own homecare there are a couple to products that I always recommend to may patients. As a rule of thumb you should be brushing your teeth for two full minutes twice a day, flossing your teeth 1-2x a day and as an added benefit your can add a waterpik to your routine to help remove anything that may be left behind. If you truly hate flossing or can not manage to do it then you should use a waterpik twice a day. Adequate homecare can help prevent cavities, gingivitis and periodontal disease which is an infection in the gum tissue that can lead to bone loss and tooth loss. Nobody wants that and these products can help prevent them from occurring.

The first product that I recommend to every patient is a good electric toothbrush. I personally love the Philips Sonicare line. It is the only line of brushes that pulses fluid between the teeth and along the gum line to help remove plaque and debris. The Diamond Clean is my favorite brush, now I know it is expensive but its a great option for a gift as we move in to the holiday season. If you’re looking for a less expensive option than the FlexCare is a great option too. The main thing to look for is that it is timed for 2 minutes, has a pressure sensor to alert you if you are scrubbing too hard and is rechargeable.

As far as a waterpik goes I usually will recommend the Waterpik Cordless Waterflosser. More often than not people will purchase a traditional waterpik, set it up on their bathroom counter, use it for a week or so and then get tired of looking at it and put it in the closet only to never use it again. The Cordless Waterflosser is rechargeable and can be used in the shower. It looks like a larger electric toothbrush and can be easily stored in a drawer or even left in the shower. Its convenient to travel with as well, just empty the back reservoir and put it in your bag!

I realize investing in some of these items can be expensive but fillings, crowns, gum disease are very expensive to treat so good oral hygiene is worth the investment. They can be great options for gifts around the holidays or if you’re getting married you can add them to your registry! They can be found at most local stores and also Amazon. You also may be able to use a coupon when shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond

Weekly obé schedule

October 19,2020

I’ve come to realize in my goal to improve my health and fitness that when I am feeling overwhelmed I tend to fall off the wagon with exercise. That’s funny too because when I exercise my stress and anxiety decrease but sometimes finding the time to fit it in is difficult. The express classes are perfect for me when I’m struggling to get a workout in. What’s important is putting the effort in to make a change for yourself!

How did you guys do with your fitness goals last week? We’re you only able to workout a few days? Did you reach your goal? Either way, the intent is what is important! If you reached your goal, congrats! That’s amazing! And if you didn’t (like me) having the intent and desire to improve will push you forward next week 😊 These are the classes I’m going to try and complete this week. Have you scheduled your classes yet? Check out obefitness.com if you’re interested in trying it out.

Welcome to my first blog post

Welcome, I am excited that you have stopped by and I hope that enjoy the blog. If you’ve read the About section you know a little about me already and if you haven’t, Hi! I’m Melissa! I am a married, 30-something mom of two. I work full time as a Dental Hygienist and I love what I do but have recently wanted “more” specifically creatively. My husband and I discussed me going back to school but with two kids and a husband that works 60 miles away it did not really seem feasible. After some reflection on things that I enjoy doing I decided to start this blog. I’m hoping that it will motivate myself and others to be proactive in our wants and desires whether it’s physical health, mental heath or just exploring things that you enjoy doing! My goal is to provide inspiration for lifestyle (home decor, family outings, beauty), wellness – both physical and mental, and style.

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to reach out in the comments, connect to me via email, check out my Instagram or visit my Pinterest boards.

I’m excited to see where this new venture will take me and I’m thankful for your support.
