Motivation Monday (on a tuesday)

January 19, 2021

So clearly I am a day late with this Motivation Monday 😬 I’ve definitely been slacking when it comes to working out and haven’t been feeling very ā€œmotivatedā€ with fitness. Setting priorities and creating boundaries and a schedule have recently become very important to me. There’s not reason to sit on the phone and scroll, scroll, scroll for hours. Other aspects of our lives need to take priority as well.

I know that I’ve usually posted about ObĆ© but I decided to try something new. I downloaded the Peloton app since they’re having a two months free trial and took my first class this morning. A 10 minute Intermediate Yoga Flow and holy moly I need to stretch! Yoga used to be a large part of my life. When I was in massage school is was a class that we took each semester for two and a half years and truthfully, I was in the best shape of my life. Lean, strong, grounded mentally.

I really liked the Peloton app however I feel like the obĆ© classes are slightly more exciting and ā€œprettyā€ and I say that loosely meaning the backgrounds are colorful and the lighting keeps my interest more. Now that could be because I did a yoga class and they were trying to keep things mellow. They both offer short classes, mine today was only 10 minutes. The Peloton app is also slightly cheaper.

They’re both great options for at home workouts. I look forward to trying more classes Peloton.

Motivation Monday

Today is the last Monday of the year. Can you believe that?! The LAST one! This year has felt simultaneously extremely long as well as super short. COVID certainly through a monkey wrench into everyone’s lives but soon we can put this year behind us and look forward to 2021 and hopefully a better year. I’m not big on New Years Resolutions, I feel like they imply that you were/are faulty somehow the previous year. Most people can’t live up to the pressures that resolutions put on us and end up failing anyway and I am so not down with more failure and negativity after the hell of a year we’ve all been through. Instead of a fitness schedule or a resolution for my Motivation Monday I am going to set forth my goals and intentions for the upcoming months and year. I’m a firm believer that you get what you put out; be kind and kindness will come to you, work hard and success will come to you etc. So here they are, in no particular order or category:

Motivation Monday

I’ve been struggling with this section of the blog because I haven’t been feeling the motivation to exercise regularly. Between work, the kids, the house and the holidays it’s been difficult to set aside time to exercise. Also I’m noticing that I am getting pigeonholed in instagram and am spending way too much time scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. Building this platform/side business is a major goal of mine and the ā€œinstagram suckā€ is a really thing. Health is both mental and physical and getting overwhelmed is something that I struggle with. My motivation this week is to become more organized, focus on getting my blog posts out and staying consistent.

Four Friday favorites

These are some of my favorite skincare and beauty products. When quarantine began I decided to take a hard look at what I was doing to take care of my body. Skincare was at the top of that list. I admittedly did a poor job at keep my skin clean and heathy an decided to make it a priority. I’ve tried a TON of different serums, creams and oils and these are my top picks

Motivation Monday

November 24, 2020

So Motivation Monday is Try Again Tuesday this week 😬 Yesterday was quite a day so we are going to reset and try again today. This holiday season will be very different than years past. Less holiday parties, less dinner parties but nonetheless continuing our fitness routines are still important. I’ve definitely been feeling less motivated lately but time to kick it in gear and finish the year strong. There are only 5 more Mondays left in 2020 starts these last 5 weeks off right.

Motivation Monday

November 9, 2020

How have you been doing with your fitness goals? I’d say I’m doing okay. Not the worst but not the best that I could be doing. I love having my daughter join me on my workouts. Over quarantine we would get out and run but now that I’m back to work and she’s started school it’s much harder to do. I love that ObĆ© has added classes that are geared towards kids. I’m a firm believer in teaching the importance of health and fitness early and she loves when we exercise together.

If you are interested in trying ObƩ they offer free trials with certain subscriptions.

These weeks favorites are all from Amazon. I have a love/hate relationship with Amazon. I love it because you can click, purchase and forget about it and I hate it because you can click, purchase and forget about it 😬

What i recommend to all of my patients

October 27, 2020

I may earn commission on purchases made through links in this post

When it comes to Dental Hygiene and our own homecare there are a couple to products that I always recommend to may patients. As a rule of thumb you should be brushing your teeth for two full minutes twice a day, flossing your teeth 1-2x a day and as an added benefit your can add a waterpik to your routine to help remove anything that may be left behind. If you truly hate flossing or can not manage to do it then you should use a waterpik twice a day. Adequate homecare can help prevent cavities, gingivitis and periodontal disease which is an infection in the gum tissue that can lead to bone loss and tooth loss. Nobody wants that and these products can help prevent them from occurring.

The first product that I recommend to every patient is a good electric toothbrush. I personally love the Philips Sonicare line. It is the only line of brushes that pulses fluid between the teeth and along the gum line to help remove plaque and debris. The Diamond Clean is my favorite brush, now I know it is expensive but its a great option for a gift as we move in to the holiday season. If you’re looking for a less expensive option than the FlexCare is a great option too. The main thing to look for is that it is timed for 2 minutes, has a pressure sensor to alert you if you are scrubbing too hard and is rechargeable.

As far as a waterpik goes I usually will recommend the Waterpik Cordless Waterflosser. More often than not people will purchase a traditional waterpik, set it up on their bathroom counter, use it for a week or so and then get tired of looking at it and put it in the closet only to never use it again. The Cordless Waterflosser is rechargeable and can be used in the shower. It looks like a larger electric toothbrush and can be easily stored in a drawer or even left in the shower. Its convenient to travel with as well, just empty the back reservoir and put it in your bag!

I realize investing in some of these items can be expensive but fillings, crowns, gum disease are very expensive to treat so good oral hygiene is worth the investment. They can be great options for gifts around the holidays or if you’re getting married you can add them to your registry! They can be found at most local stores and also Amazon. You also may be able to use a coupon when shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond

Weekly obƩ schedule

October 19,2020

I’ve come to realize in my goal to improve my health and fitness that when I am feeling overwhelmed I tend to fall off the wagon with exercise. That’s funny too because when I exercise my stress and anxiety decrease but sometimes finding the time to fit it in is difficult. The express classes are perfect for me when I’m struggling to get a workout in. What’s important is putting the effort in to make a change for yourself!
