Mom jeans styled 6 ways

March 4, 2021

Lets face it, mom jeans are here to stay and not just because Gen-Z says so. They’ve been creeping in to every day style for the last year or so and are currently most women’s go to denim (despite what many men would prefer) Jumping in to a new denim trend can be a little intimidating so I put together 6 different looks with the same pair of Mom Jeans from Abercrombie to help you with your decent in to the mom jean trend. I’ll take you from causal to date night and everything in between.

Lets start casual and work our way up to styled for date night. One of the reasons that I love mom jeans is that they are so damn comfortable. They fit incredibly in the waist and are slightly looser in the legs so you’re not getting that too tight feeling in your legs as you’re out and about running errands throughout the day. For this first look I paired it with an easy crew neck sweatshirt and a pair of chuck taylors. Typical “mom” outfit I know but it’s cute and comfortable and I still feel somewhat put together.

The second looks is another casual/errand look. This would be perfect for spring/summer with the trench coat. I would wear this look if I were heading lunch with friends or shopping for some new clothes. I always like to look a little bit more “put together” when clothes shopping (a habit that I’ve had since I was little) A classic trench coat is a closet staple that everyone should invest in. They’re chic and easy to throw on over any outfit and completely elevates the look.

Our third look is a great fall look. Adding a classic sweater to a great pair of denim is simple, stylish and presents and effortlessly cool look. These Sam Edelman Loafers are a great Gucci dupe because lets face it, most of us don’t have the money to spend on Gucci Loafers. They’re extremely comfortable but I would recommend sizing up. I’m usually and 7.5-8 depending on the shoe and I’m wearing a size 8.5 here.

Look four is perfect for summer time happy hour or a daytime date. This silk came is comfortable and stylish and the cropped fit hits perfectly at the natural waist emphasizing the smallest part of out torso. Toss on some summer mules or sandals and your look is complete.

The last two looks are our nighttime/going out looks. I call this first one “girls night out” because I always feels that I can take more risks with my style on girls night vs. date night with my husband. This muscle/shoulder pad tee is so on trend right now and I am not mad at it. It takes the basic white tee and jeans look and turns it into the perfect “cocktails with the girls” look. Our girlfriends always appreciate our style risks more than our husbands, am I right?

Lastly we have our date night look. Whether you’re headed to dinner or just out for some drinks this look is perfect. Under the jacket I have a simple black body suit from Abercrombie on so I can always take the jacket off and still look just as stylish. I am a huge fan of a detailed blazer or cropped jacket because you can throw it over almost any outfit and easily take your look from day to night.

I hope these styles help you out in how to style the mom jean trend. I am definitely loving the look and the fit of them. Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried this trend out and what pair of denim are your favorite. I’d love to try some more fits/brands. My current favorites are Abercrombie and Levi.
