I don’t think there are many people out there that won’t agree that health and wellness are important aspects of our lives whether it’s long term goals or day to day struggles with diet and exercise. Most people will say it is always in the back of their minds. Is what they’re eating good for them, have the worked out enough for the day/week/month/year. Are they trying to loose weight, get healthier, build more muscle, clear their mind? For me, health and fitness has always been important to me but for the last 5 or so years I’ve struggled to find the balance and the time to exercise regularly. With my background in Dental Hygiene and prior to that, Massage Therapy I am very well versed in the science behind the importance of healthy diet and regular exercise so I struggled with feeling like I could not find the time to consistently work out. I spent years paying for a gym membership that I never went to. I’ve tried DVD workouts that I would stick to for a week or so and then stop. I would struggle with finding the time to go out for a run, which I love to do because running to me is not only exercise but also a way for me to clear my mind. I do not really enjoy pushing a running stroller because 1. it makes it very difficult and 2. It’s difficult to clear your mind when you have a baby or toddler yelling for you to go faster. Recently though I downloaded the Obé app and I love it! It has been the only program that I’ve been able to stick with consistently for the last month or so and I feel motivated to continue to stay with it. Often times I give up on programs because I find it difficult to find 45-60min to exercise as I am sure many of you do also. This app is great because they have options for live classes typically around 30 minutes long but they also have express classes (which I love!) that are anywhere from 10-12 minutes and they work! I’ve mostly only taken the express classes and I’ve already noticed a difference! I feel stronger and leaner and personally, when I notice change whether its physically or mentally it keeps me motivated to continue.
If you haven’t tried the app or are looking for a program that may work for you I highly recommend Obé. I find that if I plan my weekly responsibilities out on Sunday then I am more likely to accomplish my goals. Whether its exercising, planing out my meals or setting a schedule for cleaning/laundry having a list written out and being able to cross an item off helps to clear my mind and feel accomplished.
Let keep each other accountable and focus on fitness and wellness together. I will be posting my schedule of Obé classes that I intend to take for the week every Sunday night in hope to keep myself on track and hopefully motivate you to stay on track as well.
